Leadership, descions, and apple pie?

Thats right. All three. Here's an update for you.

Life is dandy. Nothing to exciting. They spelled my name wrong in the local paper if you call that exciting. Rachelle to be exact. Isn't that odd? I'm Rachel thank you.
School is going well, for once in my life. And I'm talking grade wise, not actually high school crapness wise. :)
Track is amazing. I'm lovin it.
The boy toy is great. 11 month ann. today <3

But really, you don't come here to read about my day to day life. You come to read about the juicyness. My rants. My thoughts. My ideas. My little perfect world. (or so i desire)

Like my title, leadership. Here goes.

Leadership is something that your not born with. Its something that develops overtime. In my eyes, a true leader is someone that knows when to step up to a leadership role when needed to, and knows when to step down and be a follower when needed to. Thats the true defention of a leader, according to the big book of definitions of Rachel Wolman. ;) So why talk about it? Maybe because I went to a Jewish Leadership Institue this summer, or maybe because I have felt the need to rise up and become a leader during certian times this year?

If you went with the second choice, give yourself a big pat on the back. Because your right.

Don't get me wrong, I love track. A lot in fact. This is my third year being on track. And now I'm an upperclassman. The oh-so-awaited upperclassman. Coach Jones (our track coach who left after my freshman year because he got a better job offer at another school then came back to our school because he missed us way too much) doesn't ever pick captains. What he does is wait to see who is going to step up from the boys and girls side of the team. Age does not matter to him, just get it done so he doesn't have to. Oh wait no, that's distance runners. They run the 2 mile so we don't have to. (thats basiclly the theme of the sprinter's way of life) No he does it so he can see what kids are going to step up. People he knows can get it done. And its no easy piece of apple pie to get 125 kids together and warming up. When it comes to the girls team, Cassandra, an amazing distance runner is going to take charge because of her experince and her leadership insticts, I am going to take control because I feel that with my training, and over powering voice it helps, and Elena an amazing high jumper and hurdler is also a leader. Cassandra is not much of a yeller, which is where I come in. She's like my ultimate person, or leader you could say. Because if I ever want to do anything or have any ideas for the girls team I talk to her about it. And her, Elena and I all discuss it. Since we are the only three who have been on the team every year and want to be leaders. We have a senior girl who also wants to be a leader, but I feel she probably won't be because she just...doesn't lead I guess.

But what comes with being a leader is kids who try to step in and take your spot. Try to help but really just hurt. And its frustrating. Especially since I try not to be a bitch. I want to be someone whose an approachable leader, while still being respected. At the same time, people piss me off. I'm still in a delima on what to do. I told this one freshman girl to back off in the nicest way possible, but she still keeps it up. I kind of just have Elena do all the bitch work for me. Because she's better at it and gets way more respect than me because I'm a thrower. Politics. Sucks. Gotta love it though. Its just frustrating.

Darn I wanted to talk about other stuff. But this is getting long and I'm getting tired. Sorry. Its so not complete.
